Vintage Trick or Treat Quilt

So, while Marc is busy building my project table, I have started a new project myself.  I have wanted this quilt for quite a while now...like a year!  Every time I went to the Craft Warehouse I went to look at this pattern but didn't buy it.  Well.... I bought it!  Maybe just for the black dingle balls and rick rack, I'm not sure!?!

So far, I have cut the panels and traced the embroidery patterns.  Here are a couple...

I brushed up on my embroidery stitch skills, since I found that the pattern called for a little more than the basic back stitch.  I'll start the embroidery process tomorrow, I might be done sometime next year.  The rest of the project is quilting, something I've never done before. YIKES! But I heard from nice lady at JoAnns Fabric that you can hire this done, that spare change bucket may come in handy about then... :)

My Project Table!!!!

Here is the unfinished version of the "Pottery Barn Project Table" my husband built for me.  We just putty'd the holes and are waiting for it to dry!

It is 56.5w x 40.5d x 40.0h, a little bit taller than the original due to the cube dimensions.  The cubes are each 12 x 12 x 12, perfect for some baskets to hold all the goodies necessary for more crafting.

I have been coveting these for a while now but would not even consider paying nearly $1,200.00 for the one Pottery Barn sells.  I plan to finish it black with a satin sealer and put it to work right away.

Sewing Bags Today

So... last week, or maybe the week before that I was bored!!!  I was really wanting to sew something, but could not think of anything for the life of me.  My second born (who is away at college) happened to call while I was on my way to the fabric store to wander aimlessly through the fabric isles, and gave me a purpose for going!  She wanted a new bag.  One that she could wear across her body.  So after buying the absolute cutest fabrics that I had to have, I came home and set out making a pattern out of.... newspaper.  Yes, newspaper.  That was the only thing I had around that was big enough.  Lord knows I have enough newspaper from couponing, another thing I do when I'm bored.  Anyway, here is the finished product.  Tomorrow I am starting another bag, and I will take pictures along the way to show you.  Complete with the newspaper pattern!  Also, that is not my man hand in the photo.  My super sweet, wonderful, and supportive husband took the photo of the bag so he could add it to the post on this blog that he created for me.  Why?  Because he's just that wonderful.
Notice the man hand?  :)
